Visible Things - a Dir en grey Scans Community JOIN NOW.
An Interview with the Visible Things moderators, Elloran and Aru
1. Tell us a little something about the community. Visible Things was created as an archive for all Dir en grey related scans; from magazines published over the years, to CD and DVD covers, and volumes of Haiiro no Ginka. We understand that sometimes it can be extremely hard to find a particular scan, especially now that old archives are no longer maintained. So basically it is a community from the fans to the fans, to help each other. 2. How many members do you have? We currently have 614 members. 3. When did your community start? It started on October 3rd 2009. The concept was born sometime back in August 2009. It took a while to collect all scans and get in contact with the original uploaders for crediting reasons. 4. Where is the community based (Asia, America, Europe, etc.)? It's based in Germany but the moderators are from Germany and Hungary. 5. What languages do you preferably use? English is the main language used in our community, although most magazines featured are Japanese, and there are some German, Hungarian, Spanish, etc. surfacing in the scans. 6. What are you most proud of about your community? That so many people gave permission for their scans to be posted there and that there has only been good feedback so far. 7. Why Dir en grey? elloran: Because they are still able surprise us with their non-repeating music and Kyo's unique voice. I love the excitement before new releases, not knowing what to expect. aru-sama: same as elloran – they are a band like no other, “you never know what you’re gonna get” *laughs* They are full of new ideas and things no other band could pull through. And personally I love Kyo’s vocals and lyrics. He has an amazing voice range. 8. Do you have any interesting activities in your community? Please tell us about it. Not yet. 9. Can you tell us something about the members of your community? They are great and supporting people, thanks! 10. What do you wish seeing more from your community?
We'd really like to see more people sharing their scans. Please, post what you guys have! 11. How long did you know about OC.com? What do you think of the site? We've known about OC since January. elloran: I think it's great that there are some people willing to translate and share all these things for people who aren't able to understand Japanese. aru-sama: I was randomly googling, searching for a translation from one of the Ginkas when I stumbled upon the site. I appreciate all the work there is behind the scenes to make such a grand project work smoothly. And I’m forever grateful for the translations.
12. Message to OC readers wanting to join your community If you're looking for the magazine scans of one of the translations here, come and join us, there's a good chance you will find it in our community. We will also provide the OC.com links for those scans that have been translated. 13. Tell us a little about yourself. (Handle, Position, What you do in the community) I'm elloran and I am the moderator of this community, together with aru-sama (simply_aru on LJ), who helped me creating this. I also post my own scans and maintain the archive. I’m aru-sama (or Aru), I’m also a mod. I was very happy that elloran asked me to help her with this community. Some time ago I wanted to open my own but nothing came of it and I withdrew a little from the fandom but now I’m back in action. I like doing something meaningful that could help others. 14. Has Dir en grey ever had a concert in your area? (When, Where, etc.) OR Share a memorable moment about Dir en grey in your community. elloran: Yes, living in Germany, I've had the luck to see them several times. aru-sama: Not in Hungary, no, but I’ve seen them in Europe 3 times so far (in Sweden, Austria, and Poland). 15. Just a random question: How much do we need to pay you to throw a brick in a panda's face? elloran: I would never do that, no matter how much money I would get. aru-sama: Pandas are too cute to be treated with such cruelty, also on the verge of extinctions, so no, I wouldn’t throw a brick, no matter how much you are willing to pay me.
