Check out Marmalade Chainsaw An Interview with the Co-founder, Vanessa:
1. Tell us a little something about the community.
Marmalade Chainsaw is a forum created on a free domain forum generator that’s very popular in Italy called Forumfree. On Top 100 Japan Sites we’re listed as the third best site about Japanese Music in Italy and we want to get the first place! (reference: http://www.japanforever.net/jf/xtop/main.php?action=list&page=0). Unlike most forums, Forumfree is very flexible, it gives the chance to structure your communty however you wish so we’ve tacken advantage of this possibility to make Marmalade Chainsaw interactive, easy to understand and good looking at the same time! 2. How many members do you have? At the moment 11, but we’re going to gain more! 3. When did the community start? On the 29th of October 2009, the fact that we have 11 members proves we’re working hard to get as many italian Dir en grey fans to know us. Here’s a rapid intro to how it works on Forumfree: you have to spam a message in other forums to get people to know about it, when you do that you get more hits, more hits takes you higher in the chart, the higher you get the more people will visit the site and subscribe! Some forums have been open for years and have less than 10 members... 4. Where is this community based? The two founders come from Milan, Italy, Europe. 5. What languages do you preferably use? Italian, but we translate from English and Japanese sometimes from German and French. 6. What are you most proud of about your community? Personally (and I know my friend would agree with me) I’m proud about everything. The way it looks, the way we’re working so hard for it, the support are members show, the dedication we’re showing. 7. Why Dir en grey? Because they have been my favorite band for 5 years, because they’ve given me so much with their music that I think everyone who feels the same way should know that we’re all united. 8. Do you have any interesting activities in your community? Please tell us about it. As activities do you mean projects? Oh yes we do, but it’s top secret and I can’t tell you! I can tell you one thing, we’re working on a Legue to unite all italian J-Rock fans in general, you should see how messy it is and how many fights break out over the net, we’re trying to give some sort of guidelines to follow as to ensure new fans can get to know about J-Rock and not get scorned at for their lack of information on the subject. Apart from that we have a series of games, special areas in which only elite members get access to and common projects in which all members are included. 9. Can you tell us something about the members of your community? I know nearly all of them personally...and what can I say? They’re funny, clever, nice people who are very loyal and who are huge Dir en grey fans. They’ve supported Alessandra and me since the day we kicked off with the forum. They’re very dedicated, very supportive and that’s why we want to give it our best shot. 10. What do you wish seeing more from your community? Members....they will come in time, we know it. 11. How long do you know about OC.com? What do you think of the site? I’ve known about it for about a month. I think it’s great, I really like the structure and the fact that one can subscribe and get to know other Diru fans! I wish I subscribed before! 12. Message to OC reader wanting to join your community Chainsaw Madness is gonna cut you up! 13. Tell us a little about yourself. I have to list both Alessandra’s roles and mine: Alessandra: She’s my Co-Founder, she takes particular care in the layout and banners. She translates from Japanese (she’s going to study Oriental Languages at University next year so she’s already practicing) and like me she’s in charge of the news and the forum in general, it’s a very similar task to mine. Vanessa: As one of the founders and the creator of the forum, I’m the PR if you want to say, I take care of part of the graphics, the news, translations from English. Together Alessandra and I promote members to a higher grade such as Global Moderators and they help us out with searching new members and promoting the site. 14. Has Dir en grey ever had a concert in your area? 17-06-2009 at Alcatraz in Milan. I’ll never forget that day! That’s where I met all of the forum’s members in the flesh! 15. Just a random question: How much do we need to pay you to throw a brick in a panda’s face? I think I need Nora, I don’t really understand the question! XDDDDDD
